OBJECTIVE

Your goal is to form words using letter tiles of different values by combining those tiles with other INBOUND attendees' letters. Pretty simple.

WHAT DO YOU GET?

Bragging rights that you're the INBOUND23 Scrabble Master (well you and everyone that helps build the word).

New connections and contacts to make your experience within the HubSpot Community even better than it already is.

Show me the confirmation you've submitted your word after the In-Person HUG event on Thursday to get your challenger reward. These are limited and once gone, you'll have to wait until INBOUND24 for your next chance.

Ohh yea, the group that has the highest total points for a single word will be the lucky recipients of their very own, bragging rights included, #INBOUND23ScrabbleChampion "medal". In the event of a tie, the most engaged word photo, as judged by the number of reactions & comments to your post will break the tie.

SETUP

You don't have to do any setup to play and you have most of the resources you need already with you (your curiosity, charm, and sense of community).

Small wooden tiles have been scattered all over the BCEC for you to find. Locate them.

Each has a single letter and a point value listed on it. Rearrange the tiles each person has to make a word (from the list) with other INBOUND attendees and their tiles.

Any attendee can start (or complete) a word, but you're going to have to work together to build the most valuable words.

GAMEPLAY - IN PERSON

1. Begin by finding a wooden tile. These can be found in various locations throughout the BCEC and with different people at INBOUND. I will have a limited quantity on my person.
2. As you are networking throughout the day/night, ask people if they've accepted the #INBOUNDScrabbleChallenge
3. Compare the letters you have and see what words you can spell together.
4. Take a photo of the word you have formed with your new connections (or old ones).
5. Share it on LinkedIn. Tag everyone in the photo (so they get credit too) AND mention me, @D'Ana Guiloff with #INBOUNDScrabbleChallenge (so I can find it among all of the other INBOUND goodness) and submit your word "officially" on this page.
6. Repeat until you have exhausted every word on the list, have introduced yourself to every person at INBOUND, or at the very least until you've created the highest-scoring word you're happy with.

SCORING

Tiles have 1 letter and 1 number on the front, the letter is the one you must combine with other attendees to form words, and the number added together from all of the tiles in the word gives you your total word score.

The more letters in the word, the greater chance you'll have at getting the highest total points for your word, so go make some new connections!

If you have an "H", Sophia has a "U" and Ryan has a "G" you've spelled one of my favorite words, "HUG" for 7 points.

Rather than blank tiles (like the regular Scrabble game), some speakers/attendees will have Sprocket Tiles. Treat these like blanks, they can fill in for any letter to help you complete your words AND they count for bonus points.

WHAT ABOUT THOSE BONUS POINTS?

You can DOUBLE  your word points just by taking a photo of your word with ME OR Kyle Jepson OR anyone else with a Sprocket Tile (I am handing these out to some of the speakers, so don't forget to ask if they've accepted the INBOUND Scrabble Challenge too!).

If you're savvy and snag a picture of ME AND Kyle (or another speaker with a Sprocket Tile), you can go ahead and TRIPLE your word points.

Some examples:

If you happen to see me around while you're taking your word photo with the same "HUG" example and pull me in, you can DOUBLE your points. So, you still have an "H", Sophia still has a "U", and Ryan still has a "G" and you've still spelled "HUG" again, but this time not just for 7 points, you'll get DOUBLE WORD POINTS for snagging a photo with me, for a total of 14 points.

But wait, that's not all...

Say you see Jay & I chatting, and Jay has a Sprocket tile. You still have your "H", Sophia still has her "U", and Ryan still has his "G" and you've spelled "HUG" one more time, but this time you're not just getting 7 points, you'll get TRIPLE WORD POINTS for snagging a photo with both Jay AND me, so it will be worth 21. And now we all know each other too!

WHERE CAN YOU FIND TILES?

Pretty much anywhere in the BCEC and the connecting locations, Lawn on the D & Westin (there will only be a few hundred available so don't wait to join in).

Take a peek in the Sprocketter Lounge. I have it on good authority that they'll have a well-stocked supply (especially during the Admin HUG meetup on Thursday afternoon).

You can also bet your bottom dollar that if the event has anything to do with Admins (ie, Kyle is there), there will likely be a few left out on seats, by the coffee/water, or in my hand ready to give out.

Some vendor booths will have a limited supply of them too, so be sure to stop by and check out what they're sharing, snag their swag (you might see one lying around you can pick up).

Check in those iconic photo spots all around the conference center too. Lawn on the D, the INBOUND sign... (those are great places to take those photos of your words with your new friends and send 'em in while you're there).
